Boeing: Two whistleblowers dead in three months

WEB Dean is the second Boeing-related whistleblower to die in the past three months

John Barnett, 62, died in Charleston, SC, in March from what appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Barnett was a former quality manager at Boeing's 787 Dreamliner factory in South Carolina. He had raised concerns about manufacturing practices at the plant, including the use of unqualified workers and the installation of defective parts.

WEB Dean, a former quality manager at Boeing's 787 Dreamliner factory in Washington state, was found dead in his home on May 1. The cause of death is still under investigation, but police say there is no evidence of foul play.

Dean had also raised concerns about manufacturing practices at the plant. In a 2018 letter to the Federal Aviation Administration, Dean alleged that Boeing was pressuring employees to sign off on incomplete work and that the company was cutting corners in order to meet production targets.

The deaths of Barnett and Dean have raised questions about the safety of Boeing's aircraft and the company's culture. The FAA is currently investigating Boeing's manufacturing practices, and the company has promised to cooperate with the investigation.
